Policies

Basic Life Saving reserves the right to refuse to reschedule or refund a participant due to a “no show,” insufficient notice for an absence, or a denial of entry due to being late, not completing the online blended portion, or invalid recertification prerequisites. See below for details.

Refund/ Cancellation Policy

All refund and cancellation requests must be submitted in writing. Please send an email to bls.basiclifesaving@gmail.com.

You can get a full refund for your course up to 7 days prior to your course start time. However, you will not get a refund for an online blended learning course since you have been given full access to the course material. Please note that all courses are non-refundable within 7 days of the course start time.  Within 7-2 business-days you may reschedule your course (see Rescheduling Policy for more details). Refunds, cancellations, and rescheduling will not be honored if participant has already cancelled and/or postponed a class in the past for whatever reason. In the rare event that Basic Life Saving cancels a course, participants can choose between receiving a full refund or being transferred over to another course at a later date.

Rescheduling Policy

All rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing. Please send an email to bls.basiclifesaving@gmail.com for rescheduling.

Refunds, cancellations, and rescheduling will not be honored if participant has already cancelled and/or postponed a class in the past for whatever reason.

  • You can reschedule your course free of charge up to 5 business-days prior to your course.

  • If rescheduling between 5-2 days (48 hours) before your course start time, you will be subject to a $25 admin fee.

  • Within 2 days (48 hours) of the course start time, all bookings are final and non-refundable. No cancellations or rescheduling can be made within two days/48 hours of your course. Participants who do not show up to their course after being registered in the course will need to pay for full the course again.

Attendance/Late Policy

Basic Life Saving understands that instances will come up that will cause participants to be late. In accordance with Canadian Red Cross standards, participants must attend 100% of the in-class session to gain certification. If you are more than 30 minutes late for a course, you will not be admitted into the course. You will forfeit your registration, no refund will be given, and a fee of $50 will be charged in order to reschedule. If you are late twice in a row, you can no longer reschedule, and another full course fee must be paid prior to entry.

No Show Policy

Candidates who do not show up for their scheduled courses with no prior notice nor documentation will be required to pay for the full course again. Not showing up for a class takes a seat away from someone else.  Additionally, it may force Basic Life Saving to cancel and reschedule the course for all participants if your absence results in the course having less than the minimum number of participants required to run a course.

Prerequisite Policy

Email bls.basiclifesaving@gmail.com for any questions or concerns regarding prerequisites.

Candidates are responsible to ensure that they are registering for the correct course and hold the correct prerequisites in order to attend their course. Participants who register for the incorrect course or do not hold the corresponding prerequisites will not be eligible for refunds and are subjected to a $50 rescheduling fee.

Recertification Prerequisites

It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that if they select a recertification, that they currently have valid Canadian Red Cross certification that has not expired (and is also not a recertification).  Failure to produce such documentation or incorrect documentation at the door will result in a denial of entry and the participants will be subjected to a $50 rescheduling fee.

To be entitled for a recertification the existing certificate:

1) must be from The Canadian Red Cross, at the level you wish to recertify at.

2) must not already be a recertification (certifications can only be recertified once).

3) must not be expired.

Blended/On-line Courses Prerequisites

It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they completed the online portion of the blended class in order to attend their blended class. Failure to show completion of the online course will result in a denial of entry and the participants will be subjected to a $50 rescheduling fee.

Illness/ Medical Emergencies Policies

If you miss a course due to being ill or experiencing a medical emergency, you must email bls.basiclifesaving@gmail.com as soon as reasonably possible in order to be rescheduled for free.

However, you will need to provide proof that you are no longer a health risk to our participants, such as a medical note or a negative Covid-19 test, in order to take the course. Additionally, you may have to wait 7 days before we can reschedule you. No refunds are provided if the participant refuses to provide proof that they are well enough to take a course.

If you come to a course and are deemed to be potentially sick/contagious or a health threat to other participants, you will be asked to leave and will be rescheduled for free.

Please do not bring children/infants to our classroom. We do not provide daycare services and any participants who bring children/infants to the class will unfortunately be denied entry.
